May 15, 2025, Yaoundé: UNICEF Cameroon and IHS Cameroon, part of the IHS Holding Limited (NYSE: IHS) (“IHS Towers”) group, have entered into a partnership to support UNICEF’s Connect My School Initiative. This initiative aims to provide digital learning opportunities to children and young people in Cameroon.
The partnership includes the construction of an e-container equipped with IT materials and powered by solar. This modern infrastructure will provide digital learning opportunities and resources for children in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. By integrating recycled materials, the project promotes sustainability and aims to bridge the digital divide by providing access to quality education.
In addition, the initiative will organize an Education-Technology Bootcamp to increase digital awareness among children and young people, further fostering innovation and problem-solving skills. Participants will engage in hands-on activities to improve digital literacy and address local challenges. The initiative also includes training for teachers at Government Bilingual High School Sodiko in Douala, focusing on best practices in digital pedagogy to enhance the quality of education and create a more sustainable learning environment.
"This partnership reflects our strong commitment to advancing education and digital inclusion for children and young people in Cameroon. Through the strategic collaboration and increased access to digital learning, we aim to create a model for sustainable development, leveraging technology to transform the educational landscape", said Olufemi Arosanyin, Chief Executive Officer, IHS Cameroon.
"We recognize and welcome IHS Cameroon's commitment to helping UNICEF achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for children", said Nadine Perrault, UNICEF Representative for Cameroon.
